Joining us at the World Extreme Medicine Conference 2022 as our first guest speakers to be confirmed is ‘Australia’s most adventurous couple’ – Glenn Singleman & Heather Swan!
For more than two decades Glenn and Heather have planned, organised and executed world first projects such as flying their wingsuits across the Grand Canyon from rim to rim, climbing and flying from Mt Meru (6672m) in the Indian Himalaya and the first wingsuit skydives in Antarctica.
When they’re not flying their wingsuits they’re busy with their other careers. Glenn is a practicing medical doctor with a special interest in the psychology of peak performance. He is one of Australia’s most experienced expedition doctors having accompanied trail blazing adventure projects, including James Cameron’s expedition to dive to the Mariana Trench and the Five Deeps Expedition that dove the deepest trench of every ocean. He has many years experience in Wilderness and Expedition Medicine and is Medical Director for many extreme sporting events such as The Big Red Run, The UTA 100 and the Six Foot Track Marathon.
Glenn is also a documentary film-maker. He has travelled to remote corners of the world to make many successful films for National Geographic International including four projects with Hollywood Director James Cameron (Terminator, Titanic, Avatar). His film BASEClimb won over 21 International Awards as one of the best adventure documentaries of all time.
Heather is a World Record holding extreme sport athlete, the only woman in the world to successfully combine high altitude mountaineering and BASEjumping, let alone wingsuit BASEjumping. She works with Australian Geographic and is also a successful writer and photographer. Heather runs the family farm in Yackandandah, which is in North East Victoria, Australia.
Glenn and Heather have been pioneering Wingsuit Skydivers since 2006. They have featured in many international documentaries, and on leading current affairs programs such as Australian Story, three times on 60 Minutes and ‘The Search for Freedom’ in 2015. They are the recipients of many awards including the prestigious ‘Spirit of Adventure Award’ for excellence from the Australian Geographic Society.
Speaking together at the World Extreme Medicine Conference 2022, Glenn and Heather will share their best stories, images and video from their many adventures.
