The terrain, geographical isolation, weather extremes, flora and fauna of the jungle combine to create one of the most hostile working environments known to man. Basic survival and personal care need to be mastered before medical care for others can be contemplated.
The presenters have deployed on numerous trips deep into the Borneo jungle for over a decade providing remote health care for military personnel. They have amassed a combined wealth of knowledge which they are keen to share with others considering jungle expeditions.
The presentation will detail some of their experiences and advice on a variety of topics including preparation, kit and equipment, common medical problems, exertional heat illness, navigation, communications and medical evacuation.
