World Extreme Medicine launches first ever photography competition
Calling all keen amateur photographers working in the medical world!
Our theme Extreme is Everywhere can be interpreted any way you like – you don’t have to submit an image taken at the top of a mountain or deep in the ocean, it can be much closer to home. So the photo could depict your workplace, home or garden, nature or a location you enjoy visiting. The brief is wide open.
However, we want to know why your image represents the theme! So include a brief explanation, plus a few notes about when and where the photo was taken, who (if anyone) is featured, if there were any challenges in taking the photograph. Please also include a note about your current role/area of study.
Our judging panel will study submitted photographs and accompanying notes on how the picture represents the theme before choosing the winner and two runners up. Judges include internationally renowned master photographer Perou, World Extreme Medicine founder Mark Hannaford and Citizen-Scientist Astronaut Candidate Dr Shawna Pandya.
The winning photo, runners up and our choice of other entries will be displayed at the World Extreme Medicine conference which runs from November 19 – 21 in Edinburgh.
The top prize is either in-person or full digital access to the conference. (Please note if you choose the in-person option, this doesn’t include expenses. You will need to make your own arrangements with regard to travel and accommodation). The two runners up will receive goody bags containing a selection of branded products.
The competition is free to enter. One entry per person please.
We look forward to seeing how you visually interpret our theme – Extreme is Everywhere! Good luck.
