THERMARMOUR x WEM: thermal protection, built into the training

World Extreme Medicine is partnering with THERMARMOUR to bring passive-warming equipment into selected WEM courses, practical scenarios and our wider community.

THERMARMOUR x WEM

Keeping thermal protection where it belongs: inside casualty care

Heat loss is not only a cold-weather problem. Injury, shock, exposure, immobility and a long wait for evacuation can all make temperature management an important part of looking after a casualty.

From October 2026, THERMARMOUR products will be introduced into selected WEM courses where they support the learning around hypothermia prevention, patient packaging and casualty care. Attendees will be able to handle the equipment in realistic scenarios and consider how it could fit into their own practice.

From 2027, we will also explore a programme of live and virtual learning with THERMARMOUR, giving the WEM community more opportunities to share experience and keep the conversation moving.

Used where decisions matter

Equipment you can actually get your hands on

WEM courses are practical by design. Where THERMARMOUR equipment fits the learning objectives, attendees will use it while working through casualty assessment, treatment, packaging and evacuation.

It means you can explore the equipment before you are relying on it during a real incident, with the space to ask questions, test different approaches and learn from the people around you.

  • Practise deploying thermal protection under realistic conditions
  • Consider heat loss during treatment, movement and delayed evacuation
  • Build familiarity with equipment before using it in the field

Built with community insight

From the training ground back to the product team

WEM brings together people working across rescue, expedition, humanitarian, pre-hospital and remote settings. This partnership gives that community a practical way to help shape what comes next.
