To our World Extreme Medicine community,
I am thrilled to share with you that World Extreme Medicine has achieved B Corp Certification. This is a momentous milestone for our organisation, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team’s hard work and dedication in making this happen.
It all started with a fireside conversation in the Namib Desert, and what an amazing journey of expeditions, teaching, collaboration, and open-handedness it has been.
When I first started World Extreme Medicine, my goal was simple: to provide the highest-quality training and education to healthcare professionals working in challenging and remote environments.
To achieve that, I wanted to equip them with the skills and knowledge they needed to save lives and make a difference across the globe. I aimed to create a community and a legacy of cross-disciplinary engagement, where experiences could be shared, new research stimulated, and pathways opened for medical professionals.
Over the years, as we’ve grown and evolved, we’ve realised that our impact goes beyond just the individuals we train. We have the power to use our business as a force for good, to create positive change and a legacy not just for our students and our team, but for the communities we serve and the planet we share.
Becoming a B Corp is a testament to that commitment. This means that World Extreme Medicine has met rigorous social and environmental performance standards, transparency, and accountability. Joining a global community of businesses that believe in using their power to create a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
But this certification is not an endpoint; it’s a starting point. It reminds us to continually push ourselves to be better, to find new ways to make a positive impact, and lead by example in our industry and beyond.
I want to thank our incredible team and the wider World Extreme Medicine Family, who have poured their hearts and souls into this journey. Your passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our mission makes World Extreme Medicine such a powerful force for good.
I also want to thank our students, partners, and the broader community for their support and belief in our work, particularly in our charitable projects across Syria, Myanmar, N/a’an ku sê Foundation, Carissa Charity Care, and especially our Medics4Ukraine initiative. What began as a goal to deliver £100,000 in trauma aid has grown remarkably. Over two years and 24 convoys later, we have delivered a total of £3,178,350 in medical supplies into Ukraine, with more to come, all thanks to the incredible support of our community.
Here’s to the next chapter of our journey and to pushing boundaries together; after all, where humanity goes, medicine must follow!
