We’ll update this article frequently as we approach the big weekend, adding workshop booking dates, app information and other useful details as they’re confirmed. Keep this page handy and check back before you travel.
The World Extreme Medicine Conference returns to Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, from 14th – 16th November 2026, and we can’t wait to welcome you!
Ahead of three days of learning, hands-on skills, conversations (and a little late-night dancing), we’ve pulled together the information you’ll need to plan your weekend.
From booking workshops to finding the venue and joining us at the Sunday night ceilidh, here’s what you will need to know.
Still need your conference ticket? Book your place at WEM26.
Resilient Minds Arthur’s Seat community walk
In Edinburgh the day before WEM26?
Resilient Minds Education is hosting an open community walk up Arthur’s Seat on Friday 13th November, in partnership with DryTrek and Eskbank Brewing Co.
Meet at Holyrood Car Park at 2.30pm, ready to set off at 3pm along the popular tourist route to the summit for city views and a group photo.
Afterwards, head back down for a relaxed social gathering, with drinks available from Eskbank Brewing Co.’s pop-up bar.
Everyone is welcome, making it a lovely opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy good conversation and meet a few familiar faces before the conference begins.
Please note that this is not an official WEM26 event, however we want to share this with our community as a great way for those who may be joining us solo to meet and network before the big weekend.
Workshop registration
Workshop registration will initially open on Monday 26th October 2026.
We’ll hold back a percentage of spaces for a second release closer to the conference, this will most likely be 7th November, with registration closing on the 9th. Giving you another opportunity to book. We’ll update this page with the opening time, further release details and booking deadline once confirmed. We will also make sure to communicate with you via email before this as a heads up.
Last year, you were so quick off the mark that the rush to book overwhelmed our website, and all available session spaces were booked within the first 30 minutes. We know that made the experience frustrating for many of you.
We’re working on improvements to our online booking system to help things run more smoothly this year. Releasing spaces in stages is part of that approach, and we appreciate your patience while we get everything ready.
Our aim is to help as many people as possible attend the sessions they’re most interested in. If you miss out during both releases, please don’t feel your chance has gone. We’ll run a waiting list for each bookable session and work hard to fill any places that become available each day of the conference weekend. We can’t guarantee a place in every first-choice session, but we’ll do our best to help (we promise!)
If you have trouble logging in, please contact us.
We’ll do our best to help, but if multiple people run into issues at the last minute, we can’t guarantee quick fixes, and sessions do sell out fast.
How to book
When registration opens:
- Log into your WEM website account.
- Head to the conference agenda.
- Select the sessions you’d like to attend and follow the booking instructions.
- Check your account to make sure your bookings are confirmed.
We recommend checking that you can access your account before registration opens. If you have trouble logging in, contact our team so we have time to help.
If someone booked your ticket for you: Please check your emails (and spam), as we would’ve automatically sent you a link to create your account. If you have not received this email, please talk with the person who booked your ticket and ask for them to check their order confirmation, if the ticket is not linked to your account you will need to contact us.
If you booked your ticket but cannot see it in your account: please check your order confirmation, look at what email address is linked to your ticket, this can be different to your billing email address.
In either case, please contact the team before workshop registrations on site, we will try our best to help, but if we receive a lot of emails on the day of booking we cannot guarantee a quick turnaround, which can result in you missing out on booking your sessions, and we do not want that to happen.
Keep your bookings handy
You’ll be able to view your booked sessions through your WEM account.
Take a screenshot or note them down before the weekend so you can easily check where you need to be.
You can also add sessions to your personal schedule in the conference app once it launches. Just remember that adding a session in the app does not reserve a place. All workshop bookings must be made through the website.
Why are workshop spaces limited?
Some sessions take place in smaller rooms, including the Salisbury Suite, Hutton Room and Board Room. Each has a maximum capacity that we need to respect.
These limits help us keep sessions safe, comfortable and suitable for the activities taking place. Hands-on workshops may also need additional space for equipment and practical learning.
We work closely with Dynamic Earth to manage room capacities, keep access routes clear and support the venue’s emergency procedures.
As much as we’d love to fit everyone into every session, your safety comes first. We won’t exceed a room’s capacity, even when a session is particularly popular. If a session is deemed popular over the weekend, we often organise additional sessions on Sunday and Monday, giving you a second chance to attend.
Why aren’t we offering on-the-day workshop registration?
At WEM23 and WEM24, one of the first things many attendees did after arriving was join the workshop booking queue. Some spent almost an hour waiting, only to find their chosen sessions had filled by the time they reached the front.
Even though we’re British and appreciate a good queue, that wasn’t how we wanted your conference weekend to begin.
We want you to arrive, grab a coffee, chat with exhibitors, meet other attendees or settle into the Biosphere, with your workshop bookings already taken care of.
And that’s why advance workshop registration now takes place online.
We know online booking brings its own challenges, particularly when demand is high. We’re continuing to improve the process and appreciate you bearing with us as we do.
What if my chosen session is full?
Waiting lists will be available during the conference for places that become available, including no-shows. Speak to the team when you arrive for guidance on joining them.
A waiting-list place doesn’t guarantee entry, but it gives us a way to offer available spaces fairly while keeping each room within its capacity, and also allows us to organise additional sessions for the most popular ones. Popular sessions vary each year, which is why we organise additional sessions during the event. If there are additional sessions created, we will notify you via the app.
There’s also plenty to experience between workshops:
- Attend Biosphere main-stage sessions, which don’t require pre-registration.
- Meet exhibitors and discover the work of organisations across extreme medicine.
- Connect with attendees, speakers and faculty from around the world.
Please arrive a few minutes before any workshop you’ve booked so the team can check you in at the door.

The WEM26 conference app
Our conference app is nearly ready, and we’ll email you before the event with instructions to sign up and start planning your weekend.
Through the app, you’ll be able to:
- Browse the agenda and build your personal schedule.
- Connect with other attendees and speakers.
- Keep up with announcements and updates throughout the conference.
There will also be a QR code on your name badge that takes you to the app.
When signing in, use the email address linked to your attendee ticket. This may be different from the billing email used to place the order.
Please remember: the app is for planning your schedule. Adding a workshop to it does not book your place. Workshop registration takes place through the WEM website.
On-demand sessions
Your WEM26 ticket includes access to on-demand recordings after the conference, so you can catch up on talks you missed or revisit the sessions that stayed with you.
Biosphere and Salisbury sessions will be recorded and shared through the WEM26 Showcase, with access details sent after the event by email and through the conference app.
Recordings will remain available for 12 months following the conference.
Certificates, CPD and CME
RCSEd CPD
WEM26 has been awarded 18 hours of CPD by RCSEd.
After the conference, we’ll share instructions for completing the feedback survey and requesting your attendance and applicable CPD certificates. This will be sent to you via email and in the app.
ACRRM CPD and CME
At the time of writing, we’re still awaiting confirmation of ACRRM CPD and CME accreditation for WEM26.
These applications involve gathering detailed information from across the programme, including session content and supporting material from our speakers. With so many contributors involved, this can be an extensive process.
We hope to have confirmation shortly and currently anticipate awards in line with the previous year. However, the final number of credits and any requirements remain subject to approval.
We’ll update this page and notify attendees when the awards are confirmed.
How to request your certificates
After WEM26, we’ll send you a link to the post-conference feedback survey by email and make it available through the app.
Complete the survey and follow the certificate instructions, making sure your name and email address are entered correctly.
We’ll confirm the WEM26 certificate process, expected turnaround times and any additional CME fees before the event. For ACRRM, RCSEd, and simple Certificates of Attendance, these will be sent out to you within 48 hours of completing the survey. CME requires an additional fee (that goes directly to WMS) and can take up to 30 days to receive your certificate. You will also get a certificate of attendance (please note that this is not your CME certificate) to add to your portfolio.
Staying up to date
We’ll send conference-related emails before, during and after WEM26 to help you book sessions, plan your visit, access recordings and request certificates.
These updates are separate from our general marketing newsletter. Keep an eye on your inbox and spam folder, particularly as workshop registration approaches.
If you have any questions before travelling, get in touch with our team.
During the conference, look for a red lanyard worn by our WEM volunteers or a yellow lanyard worn by the core WEM team. They’ll be happy to help.
We can’t wait to see you in Edinburgh. Bring your curiosity, your questions and, if you’re joining us at the ceilidh, your willingness to give the dancing a go.
