An experienced Expedition Doctor is sought to join the AMPHIBIAN project, supporting a multidisciplinary ultra-endurance scientific expedition across Greece.
This is an opportunity to provide medical support to a high-performance expedition involving cycling, swimming, running, sailing and mountaineering across challenging environments.

Location: Greece (arrival in Thessaloniki)
Dates: 20 September – 5 October 2026
Professional Fee: €7,000
Payment Terms:
- 30% paid in advance
- 70% paid upon completion
The Expedition
The expedition consists of 12 operational days, with daily activity lasting approximately 10–14 hours.
Medical support will be provided primarily to one lead athlete, with four additional athletes joining on selected stages throughout the expedition. The wider support team comprises approximately 25 personnel.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A full licence to practise medicine.
- A recognised medical specialty.
- Valid professional indemnity insurance.
- Demonstrable experience working in expedition, wilderness or remote medicine.
What’s Included
The successful applicant will receive:
- Accommodation throughout the expedition
- Meals during official project days
- Event transport
- Healthcare insurance for the duration of the official event
The Expedition Doctor will be responsible for arranging their own flights and providing their own personal medical kit appropriate to their clinical practice. However, the expedition team will supply the following equipment:
- Oxygen
- Medication
- Doctor’s Trauma & Resuscitation Response Bag (UK standard)
Flight costs and the doctor’s personal medical kit (excluding the equipment listed above) are expected to be covered within the professional fee. Some medical equipment expenses may be reimbursed, with further details discussed during the interview process.
