Location: A remote island location in the South Pacific (exact location confirmed to successful candidates ahead of deployment; WEM is contracted to a television production and cannot disclose the production or partner names at the advertising stage)
Reports to: Clinic Manager for day-to-day operational and rota matters, with clinical line management from the Project Medical Director
WEM is contracted to provide emergency medical and rescue support to a television production filmed on a remote South Pacific island. We’re recruiting Project Paramedics/Nurses to provide direct clinical cover for cast, crew and local staff on location, working alongside the Medical Director, fellow doctors, paramedics and nursing staff. This is a clinical role: it does not include clinic management, rota management or supply/stock responsibility, which sit with the Clinic Manager.
This is a hands-on clinical role in a genuinely remote, resource-limited setting. You’ll be part of a small multidisciplinary medical team providing cover for cast, crew and local staff, with no permanent hospital nearby and evacuation as the fallback for anything beyond the clinic’s capability.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to cast, crew and local staff, both within the on-location clinic and out on set/location as part of the wider medical/rescue response, within your professional scope of practice
- Deliver emergency and pre-hospital/remote medical care, including assessment, stabilisation and ongoing management of trauma, in a resource-limited, remote environment
- Work as part of the on-call rota, providing overnight and out-of-hours cover in rotation with the rest of the clinical team
- Exercise sound clinical judgement and decision-making within scope of practice, working either independently or in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinicians as the situation requires
- Support the wider medical/rescue response for the production, which may require carrying a response bag over rough terrain
- Support production medical screening procedures for cast/contestants as directed by the Medical Director
- Maintain accurate clinical records using the clinic’s electronic patient record system, in line with GDPR and clinical governance requirements
- Work closely with the Clinic Manager, doctors and fellow paramedics/nurses as part of a close, high-functioning multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong CRM and communication skills under pressure
- Liaise with local medical and evacuation providers as directed by the Medical Director, supporting transfer and retrieval arrangements where required
- Accompany medevac transfers, including internationally, when directed by the Medical Director; expect frequent boat travel between locations, at times in open water
- Uphold professional and behavioural standards within the clinical team and wider medical/rescue group, role-modelling professionalism in a close-knit, high-pressure location
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive, resilient team culture in an isolated setting
- Maintain strict confidentiality in line with the production’s non-disclosure requirements
