Built on the realities of operating under fire. Designed for those preparing to do the same.

After over three years of delivering trauma training in active conflict zones across Ukraine, the World Extreme Medicine Fund is launching its first UK-based public training programme: the Ukraine-Specific Prolonged Field Care Course (USPFCC).

Taking place in Cumbria in February 2026, this five-day course is a direct result of WEMF’s experience on the ground. It is designed to transfer the lessons learned from real-world war zone medicine back to the UK, embedding those insights into a new generation of healthcare providers.

This is not standard prehospital training, more gritty, more immediate, and shaped by the realities of delivering care under fire.

About The Course

Location: Cumbria, UK
Dates: 2nd – 6th February 2026
Duration: 5 days
Suitable for: Healthcare professionals, humanitarian medics, expedition & remote care providers

This course is based on:

  • Firsthand experiences from Ukrainian frontlines

  • Prolonged field care in hostile environments

  • Decision-making with limited resources, under pressure

  • Hard-earned clinical, ethical, and operational lessons

All teaching is grounded in real deployments, not simulation.

Why This Course Matters

This course represents a deliberate shift, a knowledge feedback loop from conflict zones back to the healthcare systems that support them.

WEMF has delivered over 3,200 trauma training days, supplied £4.12 million in aid, and worked alongside medics in some of the most volatile regions of Ukraine.

This course reflects that depth of experience, turning field lessons into UK-based training for those likely to operate in high-risk, remote or unpredictable settings in the future.

We believe this is the first course of its kind in the UK. And it’s just the beginning.
